Surface Water Supply

The United States Department of Interior Geological Surveys has kept

records of flow in Brush Creek from October, 1950 to September, 1972. In

September, 1972 the gaging station was discontinued. However, during the

22 years of record, the average discharge in Brush Creek was registered at

44.1 cubic feet per second (c.f.s.), or 31,950 acre-feet per year. The

extremes during that period of record were: Maximum Discharge of 775 c.f.s.

.

recorded on June 7, 1952; and the Minimum Discharge of 11 c.f.s. recorded on

February 28, 1962 and again on March 14, 1962. The minimum discharge of

11 c.f.s. is equivalent to 4,937 gallons per minute (GPM).

Ground Water Supply

The ground water supply for the town of Eagle's domestic water system

o'
.

has not been determined. However, it can be assumed that ground water for

domestic consumption would be available in aquifers, either in Brush Creek

drainage or in the Eagle River drainage. Due to the complexity of ground

water investigations and the variability of ground water conditions, a

comprehensive study of a ground water supply is beyond the scope of this

report. However, for purposes of developing estimated costs, a hypothetical

situation will be presented and cost estimates developed from this situation

for consideration purposes.

.

Water Rights

The town of Eagle applied fDr and received two water rights out of

Brush Creek. One water right is Priority Number 501 with an appropriation

date.of October 12, 1953 for the amount of 1.13 c.f.s. The Dther water

right is Priority Number 521 with an appropriation date of October 12, 1953

for the amount of 0.11 c.f.s. from 1910 to 1953 the water for domestic

- 28 -

.
