.

Purpose of Determination of Tap Demands

It is necessary to determine the water demands of an average tap

in order to calculate the capacities of all the water facility units

needed to satisfy a growing population. Further, the magnitude of this

demand on an average day, on a maximum day, and during peak demand periods

of short duration must be known.

All units of the system must be sized in accordance with the maximum

demands being placed upon them. As an example, plant production should be

at least equal to a total maximum day demand, while storage units must pro-

vide additional water to meet the higher demands of peak hours.

~~

Present Water Demands

By analysis of the plant production records for the study period of

1975, the annual daily average and the maximum daily demands were calculated.

The amount of water delivered to the system during the year totaled 81,118,500

gallons. The average daily delivery was 222,250 gallons, or approximately

555 gallons per tap.
Further analysis of the records indicates that during a period between

May 1, 1975 and September 30, 1975, the daily average delivery was 336,540

gallons, or approximately 840 gallons per tap. The month of September, with

the daily average of 400,300 gallons, or approximately 1,000 gallons per tap,

had the highest use. This figure is referred to as the maximum daily demand.

Since there are no records to indicate water consumption on an hourly

basis, this report will use the experience of other municipalities to es-

tablish some maximum instantaneous demand figures. The figures are about

twice the maximum daily demand rate, or about 2,000 gallons per tap.

The following rates of water demands for the town of Eagle can be

established from the records kept in 1975.

,.

.

- 18 -

.
