Bennett is located in parts of Sections <br /> <br />27, 28 and 34, Township 3 South, Range 63 West of the Sixth Principal <br /> <br />Meridian and has an average elevation of 5483 feet above sea level. The <br /> <br /> <br />Town is served by Interstate Highway 70, U.S. Highway 36 and Colorado <br /> <br /> <br />Highway 79. Rail service is provided by the Union Pacific Railroad. The <br /> <br /> <br />present Town limits encompass approximately 310 acres. Included in the <br /> <br />total Town area is approximately 115 acres of recently annexed undeveloped <br /> <br />land which has been subdivided and platted for medium-density residential <br /> <br />housing and mobile homes. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />CLL~TE <br /> <br />The climate of Bennett is typical of the semi-arid plains with <br /> <br />characteristic features of light rainfall, abundant sunshine, low relative <br /> <br />humidity, a large daily range in temperature, and moderate to high wind <br /> <br />velocities. The nearest weather recording station to Bennett is located <br /> <br />at Byers, Colorado and is approximately 12 miles east-southeast of Bennett. <br /> <br />The weather records for Byers showing mean and normal precipitation and <br /> <br />temperature data can be considered indicative of the temperature and pre- <br /> <br />cipitation data for Bennett. Average monthly temperatures, average <br /> <br />monthly precipitation, average annual temperature and precipitation, <br /> <br />maximum and minimum temperatures of record, and average length of frost- <br /> <br />free period for the Byers station are shown in Table 1.
