Elevated storage capacity is approximately 36% of the capacity <br />needed to meet requirements for 1975. <br /> <br />The existing supply facilities are operating near maximum capacity. <br /> <br />Additional supply facilities are necessary in the immediate future to meet <br /> <br />peak demands. Annual water appropriations have not been secured on some of <br /> <br />the existing wells. Water rights on these w'e11s must be legalized as soon <br /> <br />as possible and additional appropriations must be obtained for future <br /> <br />growth. <br /> <br />Existing water rates are very low in comparison to other municipal <br /> <br />water rates in the area. Substantial rate increases are necessary to meet <br /> <br />projected operation and maintenance expenses and to provide funds for debt <br /> <br />service retirement. Proposed rate schedules are included in the report <br /> <br /> <br />for adoption depending on the type of financing obtained. <br /> <br /> <br />Existing water use records reveal a very low quantity for average daily <br /> <br /> <br />per capita consumption. Since none of the existing water production facilities <br /> <br />are metered, it is believed that at least 50% of the total water produced is <br /> <br />lost as "unaccounted for" water. This is due to broken or faulty meters, <br /> <br />unmetered connections, joint leakage, and unreported bulk water sales. <br /> <br /> <br />The project proposes the Stage I (1976-1977) construction of three <br /> <br /> <br />new water supply wells with related facilities, two new elevated storage <br /> <br /> <br />tanks with a combined capacity of 250,000 gallons, and approximately 21,000 <br /> <br />feet of 8" and 6" distribution mains with valves and hydrants. Total project <br /> <br />cost for the Stage I construction is estimated at $1,023,000. <br /> <br />Additional Stage II construction is scheduled for approximately 1995 <br /> <br />and will consist of three additional water supply wells with related faci- <br /> <br />lities and one new elevated storage tank \vith a capacity of 100,000 gallons. <br />
