If, failure of structure would result in probable loss of human life,

then, the inflow design flood is equivalent to the maximum probable
flood.

or

2.

If, failure would cause great damage to property and project oper-
ation, but loss of human life is' not envisioned,

.......i

.~
':" ~ -' 'j

then, the inflow design flood may be as much less than the maximum
probable as that obtained by Assumption A.

or

3. If, failure would cause only loss of structure with little additional
damage to property and project operation,

then, the inflow design flood may be as much less than the maximum
probable as that obtained by Assumption B.

The following engineering calculations are the derivation of the above
design flood flows. These calculations include references to all information
utilized from the Design of Small Dams publication (revised reprint 1(74)
and the derivation of all storm hydrographs.

- 6 -
