SCOPE:

At the request of Dasel Hallmark, of Don Sutherland Associates,

a subsurface soil-investigation was performed on the water

storage'_ xeservoiL_located - _in the_Upper~_Chicago_ --Creek basin.

The- _water cStorage-~reservoir -is -.owned -and::_maintained,-.by~the

determine- the ;soil profiTes, _degree. of saturation, and- sail

sampled through the use of a six-inch continuous flight auger

depths range frbm--_l5 -Ieet -to 35 feet_ dependent upon where a

refusal situation was encounteredcwhich would not permit fur-

ther -drilling ..c,. In every _condition_where'-refusal was -encountered,

an_attempt .wa s -made ~ to -chopc. througho:the -ma t-€r ial- to ~:determine

if true refusal had been .encountered.- Refusal could be the

basement--graniteor -a large boulder-which could; not be-broken.
