<br />. <br />, <br /> <br />ChC[lpt~r .Ooe <br />General Infor~ation <br /> <br />--~---- -- ---------- <br /> <br />PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> <br />The purpose of the report is to develop a comprehensive master <br /> <br />plan to guide future improvements and expansion of the Hotchkiss <br /> <br /> <br />water supply system which is owned and operated by the Town of <br /> <br /> <br />Hotchkiss. At the present time portions of the town's water <br /> <br /> <br />system are rapidly deterlorating,there is a water hookup moratorium, <br /> <br /> <br />and the State Health Department has indicated that their tests <br /> <br /> <br />show that the town's water has been "substandard and of inferior <br /> <br /> <br />qua Ii ty". <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />This report examines the town's current water diversion, trans- <br /> <br /> <br />mission, treatment, storage and delivery facilities, and compares <br /> <br /> <br />them to existing and potential future needs. Design criteria is <br /> <br /> <br />developed to upgrade and expand the water system. This master plan <br /> <br /> <br />provides specific recommendations on how to proceed with the <br /> <br /> <br />improvement of the water system. Phasing and timing are important <br /> <br /> <br />in the logical and economic management of the water system. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Several maps are included in this report, including a location map <br />of the Hotchkiss service area and environs. It shows existing <br />facilities and the general plan of the diversion, transmission, <br />storage treatment and distribution segments of the Hotchkiss water <br />supply system. These maps are located inside the back cover of <br />th i s report. <br /> <br />Also included is a detailed schematic layout of the Hotchkiss <br />distribution system. It was compiled from aerial photographs, <br />subdivision plats and various utility maps. Its purpose is to <br />indicate the general location, size and type of distribution lines. <br />It also indicates the location of valves, fire hydrants and meters <br />for outside service. <br />
