<br />ProJect Formulation <br /> <br />will be with'plant species for erosion control that will also provide <br />wildlife food and cover. Shelterbelt planting of plants and shrubs to <br />be provided by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, will be planted by <br />sponsors within the fenced area of Floodway I across the Sedgwick Bar <br />State Wildlife Area. Where possible, agreements for shelt~rbelt and <br />windbreak plantings for wildlife food and cover willbe developed by <br />wildlife and recreational agencies and the individual landowners in <br />conJunction with their conservation plan. <br /> <br />The accomplishment of the obJectives for installation of the land treat- <br />ment and structural measures, together with the agreements reached'for <br />additional areas of wildlife habitat food and cover improvement, will <br />more than offset the temporary detrimental effects construction activi- <br />ties will have on wildlife and its habitat. <br /> <br />Recreational developments and municipal and industrial water supply are <br />not an obJective of the sponsors as these are not a primary problem in <br />the area. In addition, there appears to be no opportunity to provide <br />storage for these purposes due to low annual yields from the watershed <br />tributaries. <br /> <br />There are no registered archeological or historical sites ,that will be <br />affected by the proJect works 'of improvement. <br /> <br />Since the ColQrado State HistoricaJ Society_has indicate.d an inter...e.s..LjR_ <br />designating an area along lodgepole Creek as a historic Indian Camp <br />District, the'Soil Conservation Service will notify the Society: (I) <br />when the work plan is approved, showing proposed construction site <br />locations, (2) when the final construction sites are located, and (3) of <br />dates when construction will begin at each site. <br /> <br />The Secretary of the Interior through the Midwest Archeological Center <br />in Lincoln, Nebraska will, be notified at the same time as the Colorado <br />State Historical Society so that any additional archeological studies he <br />deems necessary may be conducted. <br /> <br />There is no displacement of people, businesses, or farm operations that <br />will require relocation assistance as a result of the installation of <br />the planned works of improvement, <br /> <br />Alternative~ <br /> <br />The effect that land treatment measures would have on achieving project <br />obJectives was gIven first consideration.
