<br />Watershed Resources <br /> <br />Agriculture is the major industry of the watershed.. Operating units in <br />the upper portion are primarily combination ranching and nonirrigated <br />wheat operations. The lower lying irrigated land produces sugar beets, <br />corn, beans, and alfalfa. Most of the corn and alfalfa is fed on the <br />farms through feedlot operations. <br /> <br />The Great Western Sugar Company has a million dollar factory'for pro- <br />cessing sugar beets at Ovid, Colorado. <br /> <br />Land use in the watershed is shown on the following table: <br /> <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />Land Use <br />Item Colorado Nebraska Total Sq. All the range- <br />land is in good to excellent range condition. The vegetative cover <br />includes blue grama, western wheatgrass, sideoats grama, little blue- <br />stem, needle-and-thread, buffalo grass, threeawn and sand dropseed.
