<br />The first observation is that the cost of piping this ditch will exceed the budget <br /> <br /> <br />allowed for the project. But there is a savings of $335,000 in preparation costs. <br /> <br />Also not seen in the figures is the uncalctilable cost for water lost over the <br /> <br />years due to evaporation. We must also remember that the life span of pipe is <br /> <br /> <br />estimated to be twice that of a concrete l~ned ditch. <br /> <br />From the figures we have calcualted for evaporation and seepage, we have seen <br /> <br /> <br />that the water savings due to the prevention of evaporation are not high enough <br /> <br /> <br />to warrant the extra expenditure needed to 'construct the ditch out of reinforced <br /> <br />concrete pipe.
