The eleven (11) mile ditch meanders north through Sections

4, 8 and 9 of the same Township and Range for approximately 2.5 miles, then west

towards Johnstown, Colorado the remaining 8.5 miles. The ditch ends at the south

section line of Section 28, Township 4 North, Range 68 West of the Sixth Princi-

pal Meridian in Weld County, State of Colorado. The ditch begins at a U.S.G.S.

elevation of approximately 5095.00 feet and discharges at an approximate eleva-

tion of 4980,00 feet above mean sea level, The average slope of the ditch is

0.2% with minimum slope being less than 0.1% and maximum slopes approaching 1,0%.

Temperature differences in the area vary widely throughout the year, dropping

below OOF in the winter and increasing into the 90's and 100's in the summer.

The humidity in the area is generally low, resulting in a dry climate. Accord-

ing to the Colorado State University Atmospheric Sciences Center, the hottest

month is 8SoF. The coldest month of the year, January, has an average tempera-

ture of 120F, Concrete exposed at these temperature extremes is subject to much

expansion and contraction and must be designed accordingly, Hail, wind or other

frequent climatic factors should not severely affect a concrete lined ditch.

1
