He shall have power ,whenever he shall deem <br />necessary, to require of any of the officers of said corpora- <br />tion an exhibit of his books and papers. <br /> <br />Section 6. <br />may be required <br />act. <br /> <br />He shall have power to execute all acts that <br />of him by any ordinance made pursuant to this <br />, <br /> <br />Section 7. He shall also have such powers as may be <br />vested in him by ordinance of the corporation in and over all <br />places within five miles of said corporation, for the pur- <br />pose of enforcing the health and quarantine ordinances and <br />regulations thereof. <br /> <br />Section 8. He shall receive for his services outside <br />of the corporation, such compensation as shall be fixed by <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />.Section 9. In case the police judge shall at any time, <br />be guilty of a palpable omission of duty, or shall wilfully <br />and corruptly be guilty of oppression, misconduct, or par- <br />tiality in the discharge of the duties of his office, he <br />shall be liable to be indicted in .the district court of the <br />proper county, and, on conviction, he shall be fined not more <br />than one thousand dollars, and the court shall have power, <br />upon the recommendation of the jury, to add to the judgment <br />of the court, that he be removed from office. <br /> <br />ARTICLE VII. OF PROCEEDINGS OF SPECIAL CASES <br /> <br />Section 1. When it shall be necessary to take private <br />property for opening, widening, or altering any public street, <br />lane, avenue or alley, the corporation shall make a just com- <br />pensation to the person or persons from whom the property is <br />so taken, and when the amount of such compensation cannot be <br />agreed upon, the police judge, shall cause the same to be <br />ascertained by a jury of six disinterested persons, free <br />holders of the corporation. <br /> <br />Section 2. ~hen the owners of all the property on a <br />street, lane, avenue, or alley, proposed to be opened, widened, <br />or altered, shall petition therefor, the board of selectmen <br /> <br />C-lO <br />
