Some have been initiated by private companies and would <br />develop a water supply for a single purpose, while some others would pro- <br />vide for several purposes. All of the potential developments relat,' to <br />the real needs of the area in varying degrees. Although some of the <br />proposed developments would complement each other in meeting the needs, <br />others represent alternative means of providing for the same needs and <br />would also compete for the same water supply. A summary of the more sig- <br />nificant plans is presented here to give proper perspective to the poten- <br />tial development of water supplies. <br /> <br /> <br />"." <br /> <br />Upper White River plans <br /> <br />Several potential developments in the South Fork of the White Riv2r <br />drainage have been investigated by private companies over the years. Ear- <br />lier proposals Wt're mostly conce,~ed with hydroelectric production, but <br />more recently the possible demand for oil shale water has dominated the <br />planning. <br /> <br />11 <br />
