<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />A.l <br /> <br />General Information <br /> <br />A.l.1 <br /> <br />A.1.2 <br /> <br />Location <br /> <br />Gurley Reservoir, owned and operated by the Farmers Water <br />and Development Company (FWDC) is also referred to as Naturita <br />Reservoir or Naturita No. 1 Reservoir, and is located in <br />Sections 25 and 36 of T. 42 N., R. 12 W., N.M.P.M., San Miguel <br />County, Colorado. <br /> <br />The project site is located 7 miles south and west of <br />Norwood, Colorado, approximate ly 70 mil es southwest of <br />Montrose, Colorado, approximately 100 miles north of Cortez, <br />Colorado, and approximately 125 miles south of Grand Junction, <br />Colorado. Access to Gurley Reservoir is primarily by Colorado <br />State Highway 145 and County Road 44ZS. <br /> <br />The water for Gurley Reservoir is obtained by diverting <br />runoff from the high mountain watersheds of the San Miguel <br />River drainage basin with a series of canals and ditches as <br />shown on Figure 2. <br /> <br />Cl imate <br /> <br />Gurley Reservoir is located at approximately Elev. 8,270 <br />ft where the climate is typical of the semi-arid high mountain <br />valleys of southwest Colorado. Annual precipitation in this <br />area generally averages less than 16 inches per year, with <br />more than half occurring during the April - October growing <br />season. Temperatures can vary widely from an average of 230F <br />in January to 66.10F in July. <br /> <br />The mean annual preci pitat ion and temperature data for <br />the town of Norwood is shown on Table A.1. This information <br />was obtained from the February 1985 report prepared by Western <br />Engineers, Inc. titled "Lone Cone Reservoir Enlargement <br />
