The locations of the packer permeabil ity
tests and the associated calculated permeabilities are
shown on Figure 6.

Standpi pe pi ezometers of two- inch di ameter PVC pi pe
were installed in every borehole except BH-5 following
completion of the packer permeability tests. The
piezometers installed in boreholes BH-l, BH-2, BH-3, BH-4
and BH-6 were constructed to monitor groundwater levels
within the bedrock foundation of the dam. The piezometers
installed in boreholes BH-7 and BH-8 were constructed to
monitor groundwater levels within the embankment.
Piezometer completion diagrams showing materials of
construction and pertinent depths are included in
Appendix C for each of the standpipe piezometers.

Following completion of the standpipe piezometers,
falling head gravity inflow permeability tests' were
conducted in each of the piezometers to determine the
average permeability. of the bedrock formation to be
monitored. These tests were conducted us i ng cl ean water
as the injection liquid. The position of the water
surface in the standpipe versus time was monitored using
a transducer and data logger equipment combination. The
test data was interpreted and converted to equivalent
permeability measurements using equations and analytical
methods developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Waterways Experiment Station and presented. in the
publication titled Time Lag and Soil Permeability In
Ground - Water Observations authored by Juu1 Hvorslev.
The locations of the standpipe permeability tests and the
associated calculated permeabilities are shown on Figure
6.

-8-
