.-"
\ !

~)

TASK ES.O

HYDROLOGY/WATER RIGH'l'S

Purnose:

Estimate the virgin and available flows to be used for the evaluation of the new reservoir and

diversion sites using the hydrologic and water rights data and analysis procedures developed

for the Interim Report.

MethodoloIN: Estimate monthly virgin flows and available flows for the new alternatives that are to be

developed to the same level as the alternatives given in the Interim Report. Estimates will be

made using data, procedures, and techniques developed for the Interim Report.

The following work items are included in the hydrology/water rights task:

ES.l Virsrin Flows - Estimate virgin flows at Beaver Canyon Reservoir (if directed by the CWCB as

additional work) and McCulloch Creek diversion. Virgin flows will be estimated at these

locations using the estimated virgin flows generated as part of the initial Phase I Study for

Beaver Creek near Norwood, West Beaver Creek near Norwood, and Beaver Creek at San

Miguel River locations. Drainage area-elevation relationships will be used to adjust these

estimates for the new locations.

ES.2 Available Flows - Estimate legally available flows at the Beaver Canyon Reservoir (if directed

by the CWCB as additional work) and McCulloch Creek diversion sites. A water rights

analysis will be made using the Boyle Engineering Streamflow Simulation Model (BESTSM)

to estimate the portion of the virgin flow at each node which would be legally available to the

project for storage or diversion. Water rights data collected previously for the study will be

used for this analysis. No additional water rights data will be collected.

19
