STRUCTURE PLANS
It is proposed to use 4,000 psi air entrained concrete and 60,000 psi
strength reinforcing steel in the structure. About 225 cubic yards of
concrete will be required. The foundation cutoff wall will require about
BOOOsquare feet of Type PZ38 or PZ32 steel sheet pile. All designs conform
to applicable codes including those of the ACI, AISC and CRSI. The dam
5tructure.will be 147 feet wide and 27 feet long. A 25 foot long wing wall
is located on the east upstream corner. The side walls are one (1) foot
thick and approximately 10 feet tall. A 15 foot sheet pile cutoff wall forms
the foundation at both the upstream and downstream ends of the dam's floor.
This sheetpile cutoff wall provides stability for the structure and will
assure that no piping flow will occur in the foundation material. The sheet-
pile also wraps around the nose of the island that separates the main river
channel from the smaller side channel. The floor of the diversion dam will
be one (1) foot thick and will have provisions for anchoring the flash board
supports. The floor also has weep holes to prevent hydrostatic uplift pressures
from building underneath it. All concrete is reinforced with double mats of
Grade 60 reinforcing steel.
RIGHT-OF-WAY
No new right of way will be required. Arrangements have already been
made with adjacent landowners for an access road to the site.

-20-
