<br />CHAPTER FOUR <br />WATER <br /> <br />WATER RIGHTS <br />The water rights currently used by the Companies are as follows: <br />Beaman - 127 cfs dated December 19, 1877 Priority Number 47 <br />Meadow Island No.2 - 51.4 cfs dated May 3, 1866 Priority Number 12 <br />~Meadow Island No.2 - 7.41 cfs dated April 10, 1876 Priority Number 41 <br />The irrigation season runs generally from May through October. The <br />10-year average diversion for the combined system is 10,750 acre-feet. <br />A list of monthly diversions for the combined system is as follows for 1979: <br /> <br />May 764.3 acre-feet <br />June 1552.3 <br />July 2837.3 <br />Augus t 1924.6 <br />September 1817.6 <br />October 661.3 <br /> <br />All diverted water is used on crops. Wasteway flows are only made during <br />emergencies, such as ditch breaks, etc. <br />The project dam diverts water from the South Platte's main channel into <br />a smaller side channel of the river. The diverted water is then picked up <br />by a second smaller diversion dam which was rebuilt in 1980. This small <br />dam diverts the water into the combined main canal. Maximum diversions are <br />180 cfs. <br /> <br />-15- <br />
