.

1981. a below average runoff year. 14 percent of the required compact
delivery obligation was stored in Rio Grande Reservoir. With continued
success and experience in using Rio Grande Reservoir for Compact
storage and administration. it is estimated that 15 percent of the

required Compact delivery up to the storage capacity limitation.,
including allowances for in-priority storage. would be stored in Rio
Grande Reservoir. For the time period 1968 through 1981 (14 years),
an annual average Compact storage would have been 25.000 acre-feet.
The years 1968 through 1981 are representative of long term conditions
from 1928 through 1981. For planning purposes it is recommended that
25,000 acre-feet per year. on the average, be used as a projection
for future Compact storage in Rio Grande Reservoir. This also indi-
cates the necessity of using an average storage capacity of 25.000
acre-feet which is nearly 50 percent of the total usable capacity of
the reservoir. On an annual basis, the quantity of water stored for
Compact administration purposes is expected to range from 6,000 to
40,000 acre-feet depending on Compact delivery requirements.

.

.

-37-
