<br />3.0 PREVIOUS STUDIES <br /> <br />3.1 GENERAL <br /> <br />Five prior engineering studies have been conducted for water agencies within the boundaries of the <br />SJWCD. Additionally, the PAWSD issued a Preliminary Official Statement (for $1,400,000 in new <br />debt obligations) dated September 1992. These are listed below and summarized in the following <br />sections. <br /> <br />(1) Archuleta Water Company Water Treatment Alternatives - December 1984. Prepared for <br />the Southwestern Water Conservancy District by Harris Water Engineering. <br /> <br />(2) Hidden Valley Reservoir Appraisal Level Evaluation of Reservoir Water Yield for SJWCD - <br />October 1988. Prepared by Harris Water Engineering. <br /> <br />(3) Preliminary Engineering Study of PAWSD for Domestic Water Supply Facilities - January <br />1989. Prepared by Davis Engineering Service, Inc. <br /> <br />(6) Preliminary Official Statement dated September 1992 for $1,400,000 PAWSD General <br />Obligation Bonds, Series 1992, Prepared by Hannifen, Imhoff Inc. <br /> <br />Each of these studies are summarized in the following sections. <br /> <br />3.2 ARCHULETA WATER COMPANY WATER TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES STUDY <br /> <br />The Archuleta Water Company (A WC) provides domestic water to areas surrounding Pagosa Springs, <br />Colorado. This study investigated three alternatives for providing treated water to A WC in lieu of <br />receiving continued water service from the Town of Pagosa Springs. It investigated the costs to <br />convey, treat, transport, and pump water to the A WC customers and compared these costs for the <br />Power Plant site (located near the La Plata Electric hydro power plant south of town), the "Y" site <br />(located at the intersection of Highways 160 and 84), and the upstream site (involving the purchase of <br /> <br />3-1 <br /> <br />S9S\PAGOSA FS\S3,TXT <br />10/27/'J2 mm <br />
