It is expected that the <br />Bonnie Reservoir soil cement will last at least 100 years. Minor settlement or voids in <br />the embankment, and holes in the slabs, are expected to be bridged by the massive soil <br />cement, but with a more extensive settlement the facing could experience some visible <br />movement and cracking. However, any anticipated movement short of embankment <br />failure is not expected to produce facing failure or even significant damage to the <br />facing. The construction will include a foundation toe that will extend the seepage path <br />between the embankment soils and the lake, reducing the potential for piping of <br />materials from under the facing. <br /> <br />Option 4-4 provides a complete resurfacing project up to and including the <br />parapet wall. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Option 4-1 provides a complete concrete slab resurfacing, with the exception <br />that the parapet wall is not replaced. It is noted that the primary purpose for the <br />parapet wall is to stop wave splash from impacting the crest and producing erosion of <br />the crest and downstream slope. The existing parapet wall appears to not be attached <br />to the upstream concrete facing, but instead is a separate structure placed behind and <br />against the existing facing. <br /> <br />Option 4-6 does not fully resurface the dam slope, making this specific option <br />not directly comparable to the other options. discussed in detail, and providing <br />uncertainty for future repair. The parapet wall is not replaced. Option 4-6 provides the <br />opportunity to continue the soil cement placement or provide another facing repair <br />option on the non-resurfaced portions of the existing concrete slabs at a later date. For <br />example, when the current loan is paid back, the Company may elect to continue the <br />resurfacing to the dam crest utilizing a new CWCB funding loan, <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Option 5 - Beach the Upstream Slope and Armor <br />This option consists 'of flattening the upstream slope of the dam to create a <br />"beaching slope," that is, a natural beach slope that will self-maintain under wave <br />action.
