' <br />' <br />1 <br />� <br />, <br />' <br />, <br />' <br />, <br />� <br />, <br />' <br />� <br />' <br />, <br />Feasibility of the Repair <br />of the <br />Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company <br />Collection, Storage, and Delivery Facilities <br />Proiect Sponsor <br />The Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company (Summit) was incorporated under the laws of the <br />State of Colorado as a not-for-profit company in 1907. Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws aze <br />included in Appendix A. There aze 400 shazes of stock owned by 146 shateholders in the <br />Summit system, water is distributed by the number of shazes and there is a yearly assessment per <br />shaze. The assessment is the only source of funds to pay operation, maintenance and replacement <br />costs as well as debt service on loans. <br />The Summit water system consists of: <br />• The 16 mile Turkey Creek Ditch which diverts water from Lost Canyon and its tributaries <br />which was initially constructed in 1890. <br />• The 4 mile Lost Canyon Ditch which also diverts water from Lost Canyon and its <br />tributaries but further downstream than Turkey Creek, was constructed in 1913. <br />• Summit Reservoir was initially constructed in 1907, then enlarged to the present capacity <br />of 4,800 acre-feet in 1938. <br />• Puett Reservoir was initially constructed in 1905, then enlazged to 2,300 acre-feet in 1960. <br />• Joe Moore Reservoir also was initially constructed in 1907, which has a capacity of 460 <br />acre-feet. <br />• About 11.1 miles of distribution ditches - Summit, South Main, and Camp Ditches. <br />Proiect Service Area <br />The service azea of Summit is located in Montezuma County between the Towns of Dolores and <br />Mancos along Colorado State Highway 184. Summit provides water to about 4,000 acres of <br />fannland raising primarily hay and pasture but also pinto beans and wheat. A Project Map is <br />included at the end of the narrative on page 11. <br />Need for the Proiect <br />' Summit is undertaking this project to continue to provide irrigation water to its shareholders to <br />irrigate their crops. Due to the age of the facilities and the rough tenain, maintenance is a <br />, constant problem. A seven year program to upgrade the critical components of the water system <br />is requested with this application. <br />' <br />1 <br />' <br />
