Begin test for radioactive radium, 226 and 228; and for gross alpha
radiation by October 24, 1979, and complete the test by June 24, 1980.
Systems which serve more than 100,000 persons must test for gross
beta radiation.
7. Report all test results to the Colorado Department of Health's
Water Quality Control Division.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Unlike the Water Pollution Control Act and Amendments of 1972, the Safe
Water Drinking Act made no provisions for the allocation of funds to be used
as grants in assisting communities to provide the facilities so that the
quality of water indicated under the act can be provided. Congress' concern
about community costs was simply reflected in the fact they wanted the program
to be carried out in a reasonable manner, one step at a time, thus allowing
the individual communities to gear themselves up to meet the new standards.

111-5
