For high value districts, fire flow capacities must be maintained for
10 hours; therefore, the required fire flow capacities for 19S5 and 2015 are
4.6 mgd and 5; 7 mgd; respectively. When added to the maximum daily demand;
these capacities are still much less than the peak hourly demand.

Even though fi re flow requi rements do not control the si zi ng of the overall
di stribution system, they do estab1 hh minimum capacities for the extremities
of the system. The City of Greeley uses population density and hydrant
spacing for determining the fire flow capacities of each distribution pipeline;

Greel ey has a C1 ass 4 fi re insurance rati ng from the Insurance Servi ces
Offices. The rating is based on a scale from one to ten, with Class 1 being
the highest rating possible.

2.0 WATER RIGHTS

The City of Greeley obtains its water from many sources. The major sources
i ncl ude the Col orado-Bi g Thompson Pr()ject, di rect di versi on from the Cache 1 a
Poudre River, Windy Gap Project, sellera1 irrigation and ditch companies; and
the hi gh mountai n reservoi rs on the Cache 1 a Poudre Ri ver. The Cache 1 a
Poudre reservoi rs i nc1 ude Barnes Meadow, Comanche, Hourg1 ass, Peterson lake,
Seaman, and Twin lakes.

The water rights for Peterson lakeReservoir are presented On Table IV.4. The
combined decreed storage capacity is 1,252.3 acre feet. The dead storage pool
has a capacity of 69 acre-feet, and the active conservation space is 1 ;183
acre-feet.

The reservoir currently operates under restricted conditions. Table IV.5
shows the nature of the restriction and the date it was imposed by the
Colorado State Engineer's Office. The reservoir has a severe seepage problem
and inadequate outlet works capacity.

-23-
