The Water and Sewer Board also <br />publishes an annual written report prepared by the Water and Sewer Department <br />which gives a detailed account of all revenues and expenditures. <br /> <br />3.0 PHYSICAL ASSETS <br /> <br />The various divisions of Gree1er's Water Department collectively manage, <br />operate, and maintain six high mountain dams and reservoirs, three modern <br />water fil trati on treatment faci1 i ti es, 138 mi 1 es of 1 arge-di ameter treated <br />water transmission lines, seven miles of raw water lines, 285 miles of <br />distribution lines, and 67 million gallons of treated water storage <br />reservoirs. The treatment plants have a combined capacity of 61 million <br />gallons per day. Raw water storage capacity is 13,232 acre-feet. <br /> <br />As of June 30, 1986, the Water Department has 9,359 metered accounts and 6,405 <br />unmetered accounts. During the past four years 2,066 meters were installed as <br />a part of the uni versa1 meteri ng program. 1986 is the fourth year of the <br />program whi ch i ncl udes provi di ng and install i ng meters, pi ts, and re1 ated <br />pi pi ng for the conversi on of unmetered water accounts to metered accounts. <br />The benefi ts attri butab1 e to thi s program i ncl ude water conservati on and the <br />ability to reward customers for wise water use. <br /> <br />Major system maintenance and improvement projects during 1985 included the <br />repair of 52 leaking or broken water lines, replacement of 4000 feet of <br />deteriorating 16-inch steel water lines with new 30-inch ductile iron pipe, <br />and installation of several new water lines. In order to better protect and <br />provide the best possible drinking water to Greeley residents, two open <br />treated water reservoirs were fitted with hypalon floating covers in 1985. <br />The thi rd and 1 ast uncovered treated water reservoi r has been covered thi s <br />year. <br /> <br />-9- <br />
