!

,

SECTION V II
WATER DEMAND AND QUALITY CRITERIA

GENERAL
The 1973 "Water System Master Plan for the Town of Basalt" has been

used as a guide for estimating imminent and ultimate development.

Projected patterns of growth will change as development actually

occurs, but the estimates given here are adequate for present purposes.

.

WATER DEMAND PROJECTIONS
The exact water demands for the Town of Basalt are unknown at this

time since there is no present means of accurately measuring the demand.

A meter measures flow into the storage tanks and another meter measures

flow out of the tanks. Overflow from the tanks is wasted.

A summary of records of flow into and out of the tanks as measured

during the first half of 1977 is presented in Table VII-A. Analysis

of these records indicates that the average demand, excluding any lawn

irrigation, is about 220,000 GPO. Lawn watering imposes an additional

demand of about 100,000 GPO.

.

l
