Service Area

Ish Reservoir Company (New Ish) provides supplemental irrigation water to
approximately 15,500 acres of land. A few of the stockholders own small parcels
of 8 to 10 acres, but the majority of the water is used on larger parcels from

40 acres to over 640 acres. There is one residential development called

Northmoor Acres which applies the Ish Reservoir water owned by the Homeowners
Association to open space areas. The lots in Northmoor Acres are approximately
5 acres in size. Ish Reservoir water is not used for in-house purposes. Ish
Reservoir water flows through New Ish Ditch, which flows into Farmers Extension
Ditch just east of Thomas Reservoir. Farmers Extension Ditch conveys the Ish

water to the stockholder to the east. The Ish Reservoir service area is shown

on the blue1ine map in Appendix B, page B-1.

B. Land Use

Approximately 98% of the land in the Ish Reservoir service area is used for

agriculture. The remaining 2% is used on small parcels from 5-10 acres in size

for irrigation and occasionally stock watering puposes. The lands in the ser-

vice area have been surveyed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service and

classified as follows:

Symbol

4
15
16
17
33
34
38
42
52
53

Name

Aquo11s and Aquepts, flooded
Colby loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes
Colby loam, 3 to 5 percent slopes
Colby loam, 5 to 9 percent slopes
Kim loam, 3 to 5 percent slopes
Kim loam, 5 to 9 percent slopes
Nelson fine sandy loam, 3 to 9 percent slopes
Nunn clay loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes
Otero sandy loam, 3 to 5 percent slopes
Otero sandy loam, 5 to 9 percent slopes

-13-

i i_I,

I'
, ~ ~

. ,",,1:
lJ-J j,

_ j:
