I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

The dam has been repaired and modified several times over the years.
Significant oodifications were performed in 1966 when both outlet works were
extended upstrea~, a slurry cutoff trench constructed at the upstream toe, an
impervious blanket placed on the upstrea~ face, and a stability berm built at
the downstream toe. In 1982, riprap was repaired and extended towards the
right abutment, and in 1985 an upstream portion of the Main outlet conduit was
lined with steel.

2.2.2 Crest

The crest of the dar.1 is nominally 20 feet wide although the edges have been
eroded resulti ng in an effecti ve wi dth of about 16 feet. The service road
that runs along its length is well maintained with only minor vehicle rutting
and irregularities in elevation. The one foot difference in elevation of the
da~ crest beyond station 13+20, which the drawings show to be an auxiliary
spillway at elevation 9394, is not readily apparent. A widening of the dar.1
crest to about 25 feet occurs at the Main outlet works wet well.

2.2.3 Upstream Face

The upstrear.1 face of the da~ is generally in good condi ti on. Fro~ stati on
2+00 to 8+00 the slope varies but is generally 2.6H to lV above elevation
9385.5 (G.H. 30.5), and 3.2H to lV below that elevation. The face is covered
with uniform, angul ar ri prap wi th an average di a~eter of 18 to 24 inches.
Minor slumps and depressions can be noted in the riprap but generally it is in
good condition. Fro~ station 8+00 to 13+80 hard angular riprap of a size
ranging fro~ 24 to 36 inches has been added to the face of the dam, during the
repairs of 1982. From station 13+80 to 17+20, at the spillway near the right
abutment, the upstrea~ face is ~uch steeper at approximately 1.6H to lV and
riprap protection is inadequate. This includes the section of the dam where
the crest has been lowered one foot. Apparently, riprap was not placed along
this stretch of the da~ as it was intended to breach in the event of

2084H

-3-
