All installations should be installed in
accordance with the overall Town plan and to the Town's specifications. Often
a municipality will purchase and furnish the fire hydrants for installation by
the developer. This procedure is recommended for the following reasons: (1)
it assures the Town of receiving a quality fire hydrant of the type and manu-
facturer they choose. This eliminates the need to stock repair parts and wrenches
for several different types of hydrants; (2) it standardizes the operating nuts,
caps, and hose connection so the fire department only needs to keep track of one
type of wrench. This saves time, property, and sometimes lives during a fire;
(3) hydrants can be purchased on an annual basis thereby eliminating manufacturing
and shipping delays; (4) significant cost savings can often be realized by pur-
chasing several hydrants at a time rather than on an individual basis.

Based on the project growth within the design area, it is estimated that hydrants
would be installed at the rate of approximately 2 per year throughout-the design
period.

~" fire hydrants - 2/yr. @ $750.00 - $1,500.00/year

The $1,500/year is based on 1977 prices and would be escalated at the rate of
6% and 4% per year compounded annually. This amount should be budgeted annually
for distribution system development.

6.3.2 Storage Facilities & Appurtenances.

1. 100.000 gallon Elevated Storage Tank

L.S.

2.
