II
I
I

I
I

Test results of the deep well waters show excessive quantities of sulfates, total
dissolved solids and cadmium. Also the quantities of iron and lead are marginally
high and the quantity of sodium is higher than desireable. Test results of the
alluvial well waters show ,excessive quantities of sulfates, nitrates, total dis-
solved solids, cadmium; and lead. Also the quantity of magnesium is marginally
high and the quantities of calcium, sodium, and silicon dioxide is higher than
desireable. Also the hardness of the alluvial water makes it generally unacceptable
for domestic use without treatment. Both the deep well water and the alluvial well
water may be classified as difficult to treat for potable use. Conventional
treatment methods will not reduce the sulfates, total dissolved solids, sodium,
cadmium, lead, nitrates, or silicon dioxide to acceptable levels. Extensive,
sophisticated, and expensive treatment methods will be required to render either
water totally acceptable for domestic use.

I
I

Test results indicated concentrations of Cadmium and lead well in excess of the
maximum allowable concentrations for potable water supplies. Due to the po-
tential health hazard imposed by these concentrations, the school Well #2
and City Well #4 were resampled and retested. These test results are shown
below:

I
I
I

Lead
Cadmium
Selenium
Copper
Zinc
Odor
Turbidity
Color

School Well No. 2
mg!l

0.01
<0.01
<0.01
<0.1
<0.1
Good
0.4
2.7

City l\lell No. 4
mg!l

0.01
<0.01
<0.01
<0.1
<0.1
Good
2.2
24

I
I
I
I

The above test results indicate that lead and cadmium concentrations are within
acceptable limits for potable water supplies.

I
I
I
I

-17-
