Two small industries are located in Swink; Simplot Company and Valley Metals, I~c.
with employment listed at 5 and 7 respectively. Like most rural towns in the
area, the predominate structure in town is the grain elevator company's storage
bins.

The Town owns and operates its own water system, sewer system, solid waste
collection system and maintains its own street network. Fire protection is
provided by the La Junta Rural Fire District consisting of 6 paid men, 24
volunteers, and one administrator. The Town has a City Marshall, however due
to the lack of law enforcement equipment and technical training, the prepon-
derance of police protection is administered through the County Sheriff's office.
