Lower Beaver

An off-channel reservoir which can be filled
by a short gravity canal from Beaver Creek.
Not previously studied.

Yank Creek

On Yank Creek, in the Crystal River drainage,
2 miles above the Thompson Coal mine. This
site was previously studied by the USBR and
others.

Owens Creek

On Owens Creek above its confluence with
Buzzard Creek but well below the diversion
point of the Owens ditch which diverts water
to upper West Divide Creek. Previously
studied by Western Engineers.

Buzzard Creek

On Buzzard Creek just below its
with Owens Creek. This site was
studied by the USBR in their 1967
Mesa study wherein they referred
as the Owens Creek Dam Site.

confl uence
previously
Battlement
to the site

Several enlargements and extensions to the existing water distri-
bution system were investigated as part of this study. New canals
and tunnels were also investigated. These water conveyance structures
are:

Highline Ditch enlargement to 150 cts.
Porter Ditch enlargement to 150 cts.
Porter Ditch extension to East Mamm Creek.
Highline Ditch Extension, East Mamm Creek to Middle Mamm Creek.
Lower Hunter Mesa Canal.
Upper Hunter Mesa Canal.
Extension of Upper Hunter Mesa Canal to Beaver Creek Basin.
Lower Kendig Pump Station.
Dry Hollow Canal
Alkali Creek Canal to East Road Gulch.
Alkali Creek Canal to West Prong.
Alkali Creek Canal to Spring Gulch.
Buzzard Creek Pump Station.

These alternative project features were studied in terms of their
size and potential feasibility. The general arrangement and location
of project features is shown in Figure I-I.

1-8
