The combined annual average
f low from both creeks at the potential Buzzard Creek storage site is
18,780 acre-feet. About 400 acres are irrigated by flows from the
basin. With the construction of a canal, water from Buzzard Creek
could also be diverted to the West Divide Creek Irrigation system.

I
I

I
I

The senior water rights within the West Divide area are the
old direct diversion ditches. These include the West Divide Creek
Ditch (basin rank 283) and some of the ditches in the Mamm Creek area
(basin ranks 155 to 745). The water rights for the other major pro-
ject area ditches are slightly less senior (basin rank 278 to 1567)
but still higher priority than Cameo (basin rank 1850). There are no
significant reservoirs in the project area but many conditional
storage rights. The most senior of these storage rights are:

SUMMARY OF
CONDITIONAL STORAGE RIGHTS

I

Storage Structure

Volume
(acre-feet)

Basin Rank**

I
I

Kendig
Kendig Enlargement
Yank Creek
Buzzard Creek Reservoir*
Mamm Creek

15,450
2,610
13,695
31,786
6,500

4417
6869
4476
4547
4417

I
I

*This site is identified as the Owens Creek Reservoir in the 1967 USBR
Battlement Mesa (Reference 47) report as well as state water rights
listings.

** Low numbers are senior to higher numbers.

I

There are no storage rights currently filed for Owens Creek dam site,
which is actually on Owens Creek, or for Haystack or Beaver Creek
dam sites.

I
I

D.
