Assuming the more <br /> <br /> <br />optimistic population projection, tbe maximum demand will exceed the present <br /> <br /> <br />plant capacity in 1974 when the maximum demand will reach 10.3 mgd. <br /> <br />To enable the plant to keep pace with the future demand it is proposed to <br /> <br /> <br />expand the plant by adding four higb rate sand filters with a total theoretical <br /> <br /> <br />capacity of 12 mgd. Allowing.for bBckwashing and downtime, the .total capacity <br /> <br /> <br />of the entire plant would be 22 mgd which is sufficient to handle the 1993 <br /> <br /> <br />maximum day demand of 21.5 mgd. <br /> <br />The 1973 estimated cost for this expansion BS shown in Section 6 is $500,000. <br /> <br />4-5 <br />
