At the present the City owns the following number of shares <br /> <br /> <br />in ditch companies: <br /> <br />Ditch <br />Hydraulic <br />South Canon <br /> <br />No. of Shares Owned <br /> <br />774 1/2 <br />373 <br />139 <br /> <br />DeWeese Dye <br /> <br />Over the years the City has acquired additiOlwl shares in the Hydraulic Ditch <br /> <br /> <br />over and above the original 725 shares that made up their direct diversion <br /> <br /> <br />right of 19.0 cfs. These additional shares are for irrigation water and it is <br /> <br /> <br />estimated that they are equivalent to approximately 1.3 cfs. <br /> <br />'" <br />I <br /> <br />As indicated in the Saunders Report of July, 1957, which outlined the City's <br /> <br /> <br />position with respect to water rights, under conditions of the decree 4 cfs of { <br /> <br /> <br />the City's direct diversion right is callable by the Hydraulic Ditch. It is <br /> <br /> <br />assumed that this water was originally intended to be used for irrigation <br /> <br /> <br />This 4 cfs has not been called for by thj \ f <br /> <br /> <br />Hydraulic Ditch for a number of years and from a practical standpoint it ~ <br /> <br /> <br />is safe to assume the City will continue to have use of this 4 cfs. <br /> <br />purposes in the downtown area. <br /> <br />The City's present diversion rights for domestic water totaling 22.5 cfs is <br /> <br /> <br />equivCllent to 14.4 mgd. The maximum dClY demand in 1993 will be 21. 5 mgd <br /> <br /> <br />assuming the more optimistic population project ion (Case 2). This exceeds the <br /> <br /> <br />City's water rights assuming that the diversion rights would have to meet <br /> <br />maximum day demand. .
