I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

of 9,364 (32 gage) when a large wet area developed at and above the downstream toe of the dam near
the left groin. Water was promptly released from the reservoir, As the storage level dropped below
elevation 9362 (30 gage), the wet area near the toe began to dry, It was concluded that seepage from
the left abutment caused the wet area. The State Engineer's Office revised the reservoir storage
restriction to elevation 9363 (31 gage).

A large seepage pond presently develops at high water levels below the downstream face of the dam
embankment between Stations 114+00 to 117+00. The pond responds appropriately to reservoir levels.
It is thought that seepage from the reservoir contributes to the pond, but that the pond, in turn, suffers
seepage losses.

The City of Greeley contracted with McCall-Ellingson & Morrill, Inc, using subcontractor Woodward-Clyde
Consultants in August, 1990 to prepare a dam rehabilitation feasibility report. The study Is partly
financed by the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The report is prepared in accordance w~h the
Colorado Water Conservation Board guidelines.

The feasibility report includes chapters on general information on the City of Greeley, use of water by
irrigated land, and municipal use of water, water supply and water quality, Chapter 5,0 includes details
of s~e inspections, subsurface investigations, seepage losses, flood hydrology, spillway adequacy, and
alternatives for dam and reservoir rehabilitation, The selected feasibility design and recommended
interim operating cond~ions are included, The following chapters include estimated project cost and
economic and financial considerations.
