Executive Summary

This study examines the feasibility of various structural and non-structural measures to
rehabilitate the Greeley and Loveland Irrigation System. The study has been prepared in confonnance
with requirements for funding of the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and the dam
safety regulations of the Colorado State Engineer's Office (SEO). This study examines the feasibility
of structural and non-structural alternatives to rehabilitate the following listed projects.

The recommended alternative for Equalizer Dam and outlet works consists of removing the
existing gate structure at the southeast outlet of Equalizer Reservoir and replacing it with a conere.te .

gate/spillway structure, as shown in Figure IV -20, In addition to the structure replacement, this.
alternative also requires a 3.8-foot raise of the dam embankment. The new structure would be placed"
in the previous location ofthe original gate structure, The existing gates and gate stnlCture'
configuration would be used with the exception of a 26-foot broad crested weir located on the north'
(left) side of the outlet gates, The structure would be built on a monolithic foundation, which would

.. -'~'

serve as the stilling basin forthe weir and the floor for the outlet gate structure. A ,single spa~l:i-> ,
foot wide concrete bridge deck ,with steel handrails, would span the entire structure width of60 'feet:.
