Trucks will haul supplies and equipment to a staging area
near Ouray. Supplies and equipment will be ferried to the work site via
helicopter and placed within the channel. Upon completion. the diversion
structure will be ~O feet long and 12 feet tall.

This project will not have significant affects to wildlife in the area. The
project.s proximity to the town of Ouray and the steepness of the slope limit
the amount of habitat and wildlife within the vicinity, The Service has
contacted the Colorado Division of Wildlife. and have received their
concurrence on our determination of the affects to wildlife. We are concerned
about any manmade material from the existing diversion structure which may be
left behind after construction. We recommend that all manmade materials
accumulated in the vicinity of the diversion be removed upon completion of the
project and disposed of at an approved landfill.

If the Service can be of further assistance. please contact Kurt Broderdorp at
the letterhead address or (970) 243-2778.

Sincerely,

~J~~

Susan T.
