The pump control valves for

Alternate II will allow the initial discharge of water into

the atmosphere to eliminate sand, rock, etc., to enter the

system. (Note accompanying Exhibit XIII k.)

All needed construction materials are readily avail-

able from Montrose, Grand Junction and Denver.

e. Rights of Way, Easements & Land Purchase:

1. Alternate I:

Most of the_rights of way for this Alter~ate will be on County

Roads and State Highways. Permits will have to be secured from the

agencies. A 10 foot permanent utility easement and a 20 foot construc-

tion easement will be needed to traverse from the County Road to the

point of diversion. At the intake structure a small (30:.'x30') section

will be required. This will either be purchased outright, leased for

a period of 40 years, or be made a part of the permanent easement.

An acre of ground will be required for the treatment plant. As

this is on private property, the land will either be purchased outright

(which is the better way) or leased for a period of 40 years.

The storage tank will be located on property belonging the the

Bureau of Land Management. As the process for buying government land is

tedious, a 40 year lease will have to be obtained. Likewise, a 10 foot

permanent and 20 foot construction easement will have to be obtained

from the Bureau of Land Management for the pipeline entering and leaving

the storage tank.

30
