1
I
I
1
1
I
I
I
I
1
I
1
I
1
I
1
1
1
1

in Beaver Creek and records withholding, a measuring gage is located on the

East Fork of Dallas Creek below its confluence with Beaver Creek. Taking

note of Exhibit IXb, which notes the flow from the dates of September 15,

1958, to January 11, 1961, the lowest recorded flow was on January 7, 1960,

of 8 cfs. Although this is not representative of the complete flow in

Beaver Creek, it is indicative of the fact that water is available during

dry periods. Further evidence of this can be attested by the weir reading

taken in the Ridgway Ditch on July 14, 1977 (note Exhibit IXd).

Exhibits Xa, band c, show the physical and chemical characteristics'

of the water supplies in Beaver Creek, East Fork of Dallas Creek below the

confluence with Beaver Creek and Dallas Creek respectively. Exhibit Xd lists

parameters required by the Colorado State Health Department. At all three

places the quality of water is similar. Analyses indicate there are no

objectionable odors, hardness not sufficient to present taste problems,

limited biocides, cations and anions well below State standards, fecal and

streptococci coliforms very few and well below standards. However, as the

water in all five alternates is surface water, there will be times during

run-off season and storms that the water will contain a high count of sus-

pended solids, inorganic and organic materials, etc., which must be filtered.

Hence, in Alternate I, III, IV and IVa(revised) treatment will be required.

Treatment will basically be the same in all four alternates and will be dis-

cussed in the individual alternates.

As there are no major diversion structures in the proposed alternates,

little sedimentation is anticipated. The method of intercepting the receiving

waters will be analyzed in each alternate.

11
