The Colorado River pump station would be used to make up the <br />shortfall in delivery from the raw water pipeline. The only construction <br />to occur would be armoring of Plateau Creek to protect the existing 24-inch <br />pipeline. <br /> <br />Alternative 4-1 <br /> <br /> <br />The 24-inch pipeline would' be abandoned under this alternative. The <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado River pump station would be upgraded and expanded to deliver all <br /> <br /> <br />the raw water to the treatment plant. <br /> <br />Alternative 4-2 <br />A booster pump would be added to <br />capacity to meet future demands. <br />direct diversion from Plateau Creek <br /> <br />the raw water pipeline t:o increase its <br /> <br /> <br />The pump station would be capable of <br /> <br /> <br />in the event of a pipeline break. <br /> <br />Alternative 4-3 <br />The existing 24-inch pipeline would be abandoned and replaced with a larger <br />pipeline, of sufficient size to meet: future demand. <br /> <br />Alternative 4-4 <br /> <br /> <br />The existing 24-inch pipeline would be used in conjunction with a terminal <br /> <br /> <br />storage reservoir located adjacent t:o the treatment plant. The reservoir <br /> <br /> <br />would meet peak demands and supply water in the event of a pipeline break. <br /> <br />Alternative 4-5 <br /> <br /> <br />Under t:his alternative, the existing 24-inch pipeline would be augmented by <br /> <br /> <br />a parallel pipeline. A larger pipeline would be constructed in phases as <br /> <br /> <br />the need arose and cross-connected with the existing pipeline. <br /> <br />Summary of the Evaluation of Alternatives <br /> <br />Alternative 4-0 <br />Peak future demands could not be met with the use of existing facilities. <br />This alternative involved high maintenance and energy costs for the <br />Colorado River pump station and provided no safeguards during a pipeline <br />failure. <br />
