Feasibility Report for Improvement ofPaonia's Water Supply System
Town of Paonia
April 21, 2000

There was general agreement that additional water conservation measures and fixing system
losses would be a benefit, but by themselves, would not represent long-term solutions to the
Town's long-term water supply, As noted in BBC's research and previous experience, the
Town's water use in terms of gallons per capita per day is already very low when compared with
most other Colorado municipalities, particularly by minimizing use of treated water for outdoor
irrigation, Reducing system losses is believed to be a very expensive and disruptive option
involving at least a portion of distribution-system replacement. Renegotiating the previous deal
for the 400 undeveloped taps with ARCa, or asking that the taps be doqated b,/c,k to the Town,
.,'. . , '~
was also discussed as an important solution, but it was recognize.d: that,.there were many
uncertainties associated with making this issue the cornerstone of an'effectiye long-term water
" ':'.'
