The balance of the <br />town's power requirements are purchased from Yampa Valley Electric Association <br />(YVEA) . <br /> <br />Oak Creek serves approximately 450 residential meters, 50 commercial <br />meters, and 4 municipal meters. <br /> <br />In 1984, the entire primary distribution system was upgraded to 15 kV at <br />a total cost of $263,000. <br /> <br />The Town has recently renewed its contracts with WAPA, YVEA, and Colorado <br />Ute, which provides wheeling services. The TOIm has also adopted a <br />Conservation and Renewable Energy Program, to improve the efficiency of its <br />electricity utilization. <br /> <br />Town Hall - Town Hall, located on Main Street, is approximately 60 years <br />old and is in a generally deteriorated condition, and of an inadequate size. <br />It houses three full-time office personnel, the Police Department, and serves <br />as a meeting place for the Town Board, as well as for various committees. <br /> <br />All bookkeeping services are performed using an IBM PC-XT computer. <br /> <br />Fire Protection - The fire station is attached to Town Hall and is only <br />several years old. It has four bays and also houses the ambulance. Fire and <br />ambulance services are provided by the Oak Creek Fire Protection District, <br />which is funded by a mill levy assessment. These emergency crews are entirely <br />comprised of volunteers. <br /> <br />Municipal Personnel - The Town staff consists of a treasurer, assistant <br />treasurer, Town clerk, police chief, police officer, public works foreman, and <br />two maintenance workers. In addition, a part-time meter reader, secretary, <br />and janitor are employed. <br />
