It is very
common to find an average of 7 or 8 people per unit with some occupan-
cies exceeding 20 people during ski holidays. On the other hand, the lack
of commercial demands on the system will reduce the water requirements
from the typical 100 gpd per capita which includes all water demands
on the system. The lack of commercial demands on the system is expected
to lower the per capita use to 3.5 people from the commonly used 4.2
people per unit in the major ski areas of Colorado.

Summer water use in most Colorado communities is generally much higher
than in the winter, due to irrigation requirements. Once again, this
is not the case with the Blue River Water District. Water use for irr-
igation of lawns is not generally practiced in the District area, except
in Warrior's Mark. Minimal irrigation is probably due to the alpine
environment with a desire to maintain natural flora and the prominence
of second homes used as rental units for the local resident.

Table 11-5 shows the current water use requirements for the four areas
of the District. These are calculated figures as the District is
currently unmetered.

D. ULTIMATE GROWTH
To obtain existing and future population figures, an investigation of
development within the District and surrounding areas has been made,
resulting in a tabulation of housing or accommodation units in all areas
for current and ultimate development conditions. Population figures are
then obtained by multiplying residences by a factor of 3.5. This factor
reflects anticipated conditions at full occupancy. Tables 11-1 thru 11-4
list current and ultimate development in terms of the number of units.

11-7
