This survey included the nearby <br />surrounding area. A study of canal lines was not attempted because per- <br />sonnel of the district office of the Bureau of Reclamation stated that <br />canal-line locations "ere subject to change and need not be considered <br />at this time. Tneir routes should be eXRmined after they are established. <br /> <br /> <br />Stu~v of the project area was completed during July 1961. Mineral <br />resources ;;ere appraised on the basis of eXal'lination of all published <br />data, reports of the Bureau of Reclamation, records at the Bureau of Land <br />Management, the plat book of the county assessor's office, inquiry of <br />people living in the area, and personal reconnaissance of the subject <br />area. <br /> <br />. ..-;> <br /> <br />LOCATION AND PHYSICAL FEATURES <br /> <br />The Monument Creek Dam and Reservoir sites are in sec. 3, T. 40 N., <br />R. 19 W" and sec. 34, T. 41 N., R. 19 W., Dolores County, Colo. (fig. 1), <br />some 2 miles ;;est of the town of' Dove Creek along a ;;ell-Graded county <br />road. The northern edge of the reservoir will be close to paved U.
