The Reservoir thus serves to improve the <br />quality of the water in the Cache La Poudre River. <br /> <br />The Fossil Creek Reservoir is also on the natural <br />drainage way of Fossil Creek, a small natural creek and <br />natural drainage way and impounds storm runoff from this <br />creek. <br /> <br />North Poudre has made the use of any surface <br />rights available to a hunting club and to a boating club. <br /> <br />a. Project map, A Plat of Fossil Creek Reservoir is <br />included on page A - 3 of Appendix "A". This plat shows <br />the location of the reservoir, the inlet and outlet ditches <br />in relation to the river and reservoir, olus the route of <br />the natural stream, Fossil Creek. - <br /> <br />On page A-13 of Appendix "A", is a map of the North <br />Poudre Service Area showing lands irrigated. <br /> <br />More detailed maps of the drainage basin and drawings <br />of the proposed and existing facilities are included in the <br />engineering report "Preliminary Report of Plan of Rehabilitation <br />of Fossil Creek Dam and Spillway" which was submitted under <br />separate cover. <br /> <br />b. Climate. <br /> <br />Average monthly temperatures and precipitation for <br />Substation No. 53005, Division 4, in Fort Collins, Colorado, <br />is shown by the following tables, The maximum temperature <br />during the observation period was 1020F, and the minimum <br />temperature was -41oF. <br /> <br />The frost-free period at one Fort Collins observation <br />station ranged between 128 and 182 days during a 30 year <br />observation period ending in 1965. The average frost-free <br />period was 144 days. <br /> <br />The area is subject to occasional winds in excess <br />of 75 m.p.h., usually in the period between September and <br />April. Large hailstorms have occurred, along with brief <br />heavy rains from thunderstorms.
