Proiect Service Area. The service area map, illustrated in Figure 1-1, shows The New <br />Cache La Poudre Irrigating Company (NCLPIC) system including the proposed project, <br />nearby towns, and the general land area served by North Poudre. The area served by the <br />Company is shown by the hatched area and includes approximately 23,000 acres of land. In <br />addition to its' service area, the NCLPIC provides water via it's canal to several other <br />companies including the Northside Lateral Company and the Northside Extention Company. <br />The Canal serves a drainage area on the north side of the Cache La Poudre River. In all, the <br />water diverted by the NCLPIC serves 48,000 acres. <br /> <br />B. Location. The Diversion Dam is located in Section II, Township 6 North, Range 68 <br />West, Larimer County, Colorado. Access to the project site is via 1-25 to Harmony Road <br />then east 1.5 miles to Larimer County Road No.5, then south 1.5 miles to the access road <br />into the diversion. <br /> <br />The nearest town is Windsor, Colorado located approximately 2.5 miles east and 1.5 miles <br />south of the diversion dam. The nearest city is Fort Collins located approximately 2 miles <br />north and 2 miles west of the site. <br /> <br />The elevation of the site is approximately 4805 feet (USGS). <br /> <br />C. Climate. The following tables show the average monthly temperatures, maximum and <br />minimum temperatures of record, average monthly precipitation, snowfall, information on <br />hail, and various other statistics concerning the weather near the project site. Tables 1-1 and <br />1-2 were supplied by the Colorado Climate Center, Colorado State University, Department of <br />Atmospheric Sciences, Fort Collins, Colorado, 303-491-8545. The information provided is <br />from their weather substation No. 4 which is near Fort Collins and is the closest station to <br />Reservoir No.5 and 6. <br /> <br />PAGE t -C1lapter1 <br />
