Remove and raise the walkway platform to place it above the expected flood
flows, thereby reducing trash collection on the structure. Modify existing
operators due to raising support platform.

6. Provide riprap erosion control protection at both abutments to reduce the
potential for removal of the abutment areas during a flood.

7. Construct a measuring flume and concrete training walls downstream of the
sand gate to allow measurement of flows passed through the gate.

Alternative No.2. The second alternative includes some repair and some replacement of
components of the structure. The existing base slab would be repaired. However, all other
existing components would be razed and removed. The following measures would be taken to
repair the structure:

1. Place a new concrete slab over the entire base slab. This would repair and
replace the portions of the base slab that are eroded, broken, and spalled.

2. Grout the voids beneath the base slab where the underseepage has eroded
material from the foundation.

3. Remove the existing piers, gates, and stoplogs and replace with a concrete
overflow control wall.

4. Place a new concrete erosion control apron and concrete stilling basin down-
stream of the structure.

5. Remove the existing sand gate and install a larger control gate on the left side
of the structure.

6. Remove the existing walkway platform and place a new platform in the area of
the control gate. At this location, place it above the expected flood flows to
reduce trash collection on the structure.

7. Install a cutoff wall to rock at the upstream face of the structure to control the
underseepage.

8. Provide riprap erosion control protection at both abutments to reduce the
potential for removal of the abutment areas during a flood.

9. Construct a measuring flume and concrete training walls downstream of the
new control gate to allow measurement of flows passed through the gate.

PAGEI1-Cbapta-V
