An average annual precipitation of 14 inches places Craig in the
semi-arid climatic classification.

In summer and autumn, days are warm and nights cool. Precipitation usually
resul ts from scattered local thunderstorms dud ng the afternoon and eveni ng,
particularly in late summer and autumn. Winter nights are cold, but the days
are comfortable because of the low humidity and bright sunshine. Sno...fall is
not extremely heavy. Spring is the windiest and cloudiest season. Much of
the precipitation falls as snow during the earlier, colder part of the
season.

Tables 1.1 and I. 2 show the normal monthly temperatures and precipitation at
Craig. The average daily temperature is in the mid-forties, with the averaJe
daily high temperature in the mid-sixties. The all-time high is lOOoF and
the record low is _45oF. Annual rainfall ranges from 10 to 20 inches, and
annual snowfall ranges from 33 to 77 inches. The growi ng season ranges from
65 to 100 days, with the average being 85 to 90 days.

TABLE 1.1
NORMAL MONTHLY TEMPERATURES

============================================================================;;;

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MONTH

TE~PERATURE (OF)

January
February
t~a rc h
Ap ril
'~ay
June
July
August
September
Oc tobe r
November
December

18.1
22.2
29.6
41.6
51. 7
59.9
67.0
65.2
56.0
45.3
31.4
20.5

- 3 -
