Extensive core-analyses work undertaken by the USGS in the late
1980's at Castle Pines, Co., was cooperatively funded by CWCB through the Colorado Division
of Water Resources (CDWR). Both CWCB and CDWR recognize the importance of collecting
critical aquifer data particularly when the work can be undertaken economically and in
conjunction with ongoing studies.

Reference pertaining to USGS work at Castle Pir1es include:

Robson, S.G., and Banta, E.R., 1993, Data from core analyses, aquifer testing, and
geophysical logging of Denver Basin bedrock aquifers at Castle Pines, Co.: U.S.
Geological Survey Open-File Report 93-442, 94 p.

Robson, S.G., 1993, Techniques for estimating specific yield and specific retention from
grain-size data and geophysical logs from clastic bedrock aquifers: U.S. Geological
Survey Open-File Report 93-498, 19 p.

~

Robson, S.G., and Bant~ E.R., 1990 Determination of specific storage by measurement
of aquifer compression near a pumping well: Ground Water, V. 28, No.6, pp 868-874.

If I can be of further assistance in this matter, please feel free to contact me at (303) 236-4882,
extension 305.

Sincerely,
~/4~

Stan Robson
Hydrologist
